RSS Feeds

RSS or "Really Simple Syndication" is a tool for keeping your customers up-to-date on the latest news and offers on your web site.
A button would be added to your site which allows customers to add your RSS feed to their RSS reader, sometimes known as an aggregator. Customers can then browse through your updates and follow links to your site to view the relevant pages, should they wish.
RSS feeds are typically used with news sites or blogs, however, any website can use them to propegate information. When an update is sent out, it includes a headline and a small amount of text, either a summary or the lead-in to a larger story.
Real Simple Syndication is a better system than sending out emails or newsletters informing of web updates, as there is no way for the content you are supplying to be stopped by a email spam filter.
XML is at the heart of RSS, the advantage – in this case, is total platform independence. A user with a Macintosh computer will be able to see the same data as a user with a Windows computer.
